Feast of the Presentation/Candlemas
February 3, 2019
Today at Mass (4 p.m.) we will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. When Mary and Joseph brought Christ to the temple on the 40th day after his birth, Simeon embraced the Child and prayed: "Now thou dost dismiss thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word in peace; because my eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples: a light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel" (Luke 2:29-32). So the custom had developed in the West of blessing candles on the Feast of the Presentation. Because of this, the feast also became known as Candlemas!
If you have any candles from home that you would like blessed, bring them to Mass today and we will include them when we bless the candles for the parish.

Mt. Carmel Apostolate of Prayer: Intercessory prayer ministry
Sundays and ongoing
A special thanks to Joanne and Kristi, who are continuing with the intercessory prayer ministry begun by Br. Bob. This ministry is part of the Mt. Carmel Apostate of Prayer. We have been blessed with Br. Bob's dedication to this ministry over the years and are glad to see his legacy continue to live on in the parish and jurisdiction. If you have any intentions or people you would like held in prayer, please let Joanne and Kristi know and take a moment to enter them into the book of intentions in the back of the chapel near the statue of Mary. Please also feel free to leave a message via the parish's Contact Page.
